Programming A Device

The MPLAB® IPE Program feature allows you to connect to the hardware programmer and perform a program operation. Before programming a device; the IPE, the programmer, and target device must be connected. For further information on how to connect the IPE to your programmer of choice, please refer to the Setting Up a Programmer page.

Make sure the IPE is successfully connected to the programmer/debugger. The IPE output window will show messages indicating whether the IPE is successfully connected or not. The figure below shows an example of the IPE connected to an MPLAB® ICD 3, and the target device is detected..

To program the device, click the Program button, as shown below.

If the device is programmed successfully, the output window will show the message: Programming/Verify complete, as shown below:

Note:
Short-cut key combination Alt-F5 can be used to Program a device in the IPE. For further information on other command short-cut keys, please refer to the Launching the IPE Application page.
