portfolio
This article is a stub. You can help the IndieWeb wiki by expanding it with relevant information.
A portfolio on the Indieweb is a web page (or collection thereof) that highlights someone's examples of projects or work, either for discovery or in a professional context. What is shown depends on the person's expertise and interests, and might include anything from art and music to DIY or coding projects.
Why
People add portfolio pages for various reasons. For example, they may use it to showcase professional work and attract clients as freelancers, demonstrate their abilities to potential employers, connect with like-minded people in their field, or simply keep an archival copy of past work.
How
First you need to have a personal website. See Getting Started for more information.
There are many ways to create a portfolio page. A good start is to have a list of projects you want to show case. Images for each project can also help.
Some people include a short description of each project and links to it, while others provide a dedicated full-page write-up for each project.
Indieweb Examples
Shane Hudson
Shane Hudson has a portfolio on his site at https://shanehudson.net/work since about 2015-06-20. He intends to merge it into the front page of his site at https://shanehudson.net.
Aaron Parecki
Aaron Parecki has a portfolio on his site at https://aaronparecki.com/projects/ since about 2016.
- From 2012-2015, his home page featured portfolio content, and linked to sub-sections in a header bar menu called "Portfolio". An archive of that site can be found at http://2012.aaronparecki.com
- From 2008-2011, there was a separate portfolio section, archived at http://2008.aaronparecki.com/work/portfolio/
Martin Atkins
Martin Atkins' home page is a portfolio, the index page shows thumbnails and a short description, and links to a full page about each project.
Lesley Lai
Lesley Lai has a portfolio of personal coding projects on his site at https://lesleylai.info/en/projects/ since 2019. Projects are separated into "featured projects" and all the other projects, inspired by how one can pin projects in platforms like GitHub. Each project has an image, a short description, and links. Each project also has various tags, and users can filter projects based on tags.
