visualization

From IndieWeb

Visualization is display of data with visual representations, such as with graphics and charts, beyond raw spreadsheet entries or prose descriptions.

Writer Edward Tufte [1] has written classic books describing the history and practice of graphic visualization. He coined the term "sparkline".

Many IndieWeb members include sparklines to represent activity data on their websites.

Why?

Graphical representations of activity and data are useful for understanding trends over time such as for streaks. Maps with overlaid data can tell a story as well.
