Victor Osimhen transfer: Galatasaray’s daring offer to pay Napoli revealed

Victor Osimhen is expected to join Galatasaray in the coming days, as the club is deep into negotiations with Napoli

Galatasaray is set to make history by signing Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in what will be the most expensive signing by a Turkish Super Lig club, Soccernet.ng reports.

Galatasaray has been pursuing Osimhen since the end of last season, and they finally got their answer last week when the 26-year-old marksman confirmed his next destination.

The Lions opened talks with Napoli last week to close the deal as soon as possible and get Osimhen to join them for pre-season.

Napoli's stance on the matter is already known: they want €75 million for the transfer. They had already rejected an earlier bid of €50 million from Galatasaray, but the Turkish giants later increased their offer to €70 million.

Napoli seems satisfied with the €70 million offer, but the payment structure is what the parties are still working on.

Over the years, clubs have been paying for players through amortization. This helps them stay in line with financial fair play rules.

For Galatasaray, signing a player like Osimhen is them punching far above their weight. No Turkish club has ever paid more than €20 million to sign a player, but the Lions are now looking to shatter that record.

However, €70 million is too much to pay at once. In the latest report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray wants to pay Napoli €40 million for Osimhen this summer. Then, they will follow up with two installment payments of €17.5 million over the next two years.

Recall that earlier, Napoli demanded bank guarantees from Galatasaray to make the deal happen, and the Turkish side delivered.

The ball is now in the Partenopeans' court. They should deliver a response in the coming hours.
