This tutorial covers a handy command line to convert MP4 video to MP3 audio. That command is called FFmpeg that is available in most GNU/Linux distros including Ubuntu and Trisquel. Although we know VLC can do conversion as well, but I figured out that FFmpeg does converting faster and better. By this, you can make an MP4 video playable as audio in your phone, portable player, and other devices other than computer. To do it, you should be able to do at least basic command lines as you can learn by the beginner's guide. I write this tutorial so I can refer to next time I write about multimedia. Enjoy!

Keroyokan is OpenSource distributed rendering engine that works on Blender, the name of keroyokan is taken from javanese language that mean working together without any rasial issue. Keroyokan has release their first version with codename "kuniran" which tested and running well on both Linux and windows as node or master.

A render farm is a computer cluster built to render computer-generated imagery (CGI), typically for film and television visual effects, using off-line batch processing. This is different from a render wall, which is a networked, tiled display used for real-time rendering. The rendering of images is a highly parallelizable activity, as each frame usually can be calculated independently of the others, with the main communication between processors being the upload of the initial source material, such as models and textures, and the download of the finished images.

Interested in using it,  you can download the source here:

There are so many websites, planets, or blogs related to Free Software/Open Source (FLOSS) and GNU/Linux in English. It is difficult for someone to grabs many of their RSS feeds one by one. To solve this, I try to collect many URL of RSS feeds of them here. This is not complete by now (November 15th 2016) but I planned to complete the missing links below as soon as possible. I hope this list helps anyone in free software community worldwide.

This is my list of GNU/Linux tools for academic, educational, and research purposes which all are free software. I tried to pick up choices as simple as possible here just to represent every basic category and further I hope you could see more alternatives if you want. I also listed several specific tools like GNU Octave and Parallel which are proven to be useful for certain researches. On the other hand, I deliberately did not list LaTeX tools here as I already chosen LibreOffice for that category. I made every proprietary software name italicized here so you can spot them on easier. Happy researching!

(Reddit forum of Ubuntu where many people participating and interacting)

Our GNU/Linux community information is naturally centralized at Reddit for news and discussion, it's not a secret. For instance, all big GNU/Linux distros have Reddits. Even often, news from a FLOSS project comes first at Reddit and being discussed a lot there rather than other social networks. See for example news of r/KDE and r/LibreOffice there (notice that unique Reddit IDs?). If you feel unfamiliar with this, you can think Reddit like Facebook or Twitter, but amazingly faster to browse, with greatly less picture and more text. With this list, after registering you can find your first community on Reddit for example r/Ubuntu and r/linux4noobs. Speaking personally, as an active GNU/Linux user I love Reddit and actually I use DNSCrypt just because I want to visit it. Also, if you're tired of other social networks you can give Reddit a try and I believe you will love it! I wish you will find nice people and friends there. Now let's go!

Recently, I bought a brand new Kindle Paperwhite and I am very surprised with it because it just works on Ubuntu in transferring ebooks. So far, I have three different methods to transfer ebook to kindle from Ubuntu, there are transfer via Calibre, direct transfer from file manager, and make use of send to kindle email service.

1. Transfer via Calibre
Calibre is a opensource ebook library management which has many abilities such as managing ebook collections, converting ebook, sync to ebook reader devices such as Amazon Kindle, download news from the Internet and convert it to ebook friendly format, and more.

To use Calibre to transfer ebook to your Kindle device, please install it from Ubuntu repository, "sudo apt-get install calibre" should do that for you. Once installed, run Calibre and plug the Kindle devices. Calibre will automatically detect the Kindle and you are ready to go!

A few years ago i work on software house where in develop some application which use ORACLE as their main DBMS, although i prefer work in computer network field than database programmer, but it's never hurts to try. When i work (create some database connection) in  ubuntu, I had a little trouble and very often left with my friend, the problem is i am not accustomed to working with some database management application in ubuntu, so i leave ubuntu for a while and use Bentics. Some friend suggest me to use navicat but i don't know why it's not running smoothly.

A few days ago my friend told me an appliation called TOra, TOra is Oracle (PL/SQL) Toolkit that works on ubuuntu, TOra is 'relatively' close to Bentics and practically substitute of TOAD that runs on Windows OS.

TOra is an open-source multi-platform database management GUI that supports accessing most of the common database platforms in use, including Oracle, MySQL, and Postgres, as well as limited support for any target that can be accessed through Qt's ODBC support. TOra has been built for various Linux distributions, Mac OS X, MS Windows, and UNIX platforms.

Use TOra give much advantages for database administrators and developers, TOra includes several additional tools useful for database administrators and developers some features are PL/SQL debugger, SQL worksheet with syntax highlighting, DB browser and a comprehensive set of DBA tools.

Download TOra
(Oracle PL/SQL toolkits for Ubuntu)
TOra is Free OpenSource software, you can taste it free and download the package from it's official website here http://torasql.com/Download.

Screenshoot of Tora
Install TOra via APT from Repository
There is a package in universe repository but there are no additional info id it's available with Oracle support. If you're using Ubuntu, TOra could be install trough APT or Synaptics Package Manager, you can install TOra via APT through this command :

$ sudo apt-get build-dep tora
$ sudo apt-get install libqt4-sql-mysql
Not be denied that use the correct application could improve our performance much better,  i hope this will help. Good Luck !!

Earlier this week, someone created a Tumblr webpage for a new operating system called “Anonymous-OS Live.”. However Soon after the operating system became available, the @AnonOps a Twitter account that is believed to speak for Anonymous posted a message saying it was fake and "wrapped in trojans" but despite the warnings, more than 26,000 people still downloaded it.

The creators of the OS denied it was infected with viruses arguing,

In our world, in Linux and opensource world, there are no viruses.

And If any user  believe that Anonymous-OSis wrapped in trojans” or “backdoored OS by any Law enforcement Company or Hacker” please don’t download it!

But don’t mislead the world that Linux is dangerous and has trojans!

Ftp client is such us application that help people to perform upload and download file trough ftp protocol (port 21). FTP is built on a client-server architecture and utilizes separate control and data connections between the client and server. Using ftp is give own advantages, since it's a technology would able to make the management of website much easier as it provides with a way to upload and download new or updates files to a web space in a few seconds without need anything else apart from the FTP password for the account which you wish to use to upload files from your local computer.

How FTP Works ?
FTP works in the way that a direct connection is established between your local computer and web/ftp server via the internet using the FTP protocol. The connection is normally made on standard port for FTP that is Port 21. You can then make use of FTP to upload and download files from a web space, and in the case  while using an advanced FTP client we can also be able to carry out advanced tasks such as the setting of permissions. The connection is two-way to allow you the best flexiblity in manage your web space (http://blog.eukhost.com/webhosting/using-the-ftp-protocol/).

For ubuntu user which usually work as programer/other that familliar with upload or download from online media i think must be familiar with some FTP Client that works on ubuntu, and for the others here they are list  of Ftp Client that work well on ubuntu and other common linux.
